There are some people whose choices are so distasteful to us we can’t agree with them.
We might not even want to, their behaviors are so far away from our values and beliefs.
What then?
Sometimes we can just walk away, sure and secure in our opinion of being ‘Right’. But what if they are a member of our family, or belong to some greater community that we want to nurture and be a part of? The gift of NVC is that the components enable you to sincerely connect with people you don’t even like!
In this daylong class you will have a chance to develop these NVC skills.
• Acknowledging your reactive self, and doing something different
• Remaining self connected in the face of intensity
• Consciously choosing empathy or authentic self-expression
• Stating your values without contributing to the conflict
This class is designed for those who have already been introduced to the basics of NVC. We will be putting together those NVC components, and using them in increasingly realistic role plays. The class will be challenging, while at the same time, students will be supported with clearly structured exercises and incremental learning.
